Cluster goes Ö1: "Betrifft:Geschichte" on polyglot research

In June 2024, the Zeiten-Cluster produced a programme together with Barbara Volfing for the Ö1 format "Betrifft:Geschichte". In five episodes, Bernhard Bauer, Hanna Blum, Agnes Grond and Philipp Hofeneder presented their research on multilingualism in the academic environment. Their contributions covered a wide range of time periods and looked at multilingualism in the transfer of knowledge in early medieval monasteries, Kurdish madrasas, the Russian Tsarist Empire and the GDR. They showed that multilingualism can act as a catalyst for the creation and dissemination of knowledge.
The five episodes were broadcast live on Ö1 from 15:55 to 16:00 during the week of 22 to 26 July 2025 and subsequently made available as podcasts.
